About Us

Master restorers and professional craftsmen, husband and wife, have settled in Auckland, New Zealand for a slower pace of life. After being headhunted for custom master-work around the world in various countries including Denmark, United Kingdom, Canada, and the USA, the couple has chosen to make New Zealand their home and final destination for a peaceful and natural life. For the past 15 years the couple ran a high-end antique restoration shop and custom metal manufactory of art objects in Palm Beach, Florida. After closing down the shop in Palm Beach Florida, one of the world’s major centers of antiques, they are now running an arts and restoration studio from their home-workshop in Riverhead. Including metal work, jewellery, gemstone faceting, gem carving, woodwork, woodcarving, upholstery, fine-carpentry, furniture, painting, object design, etc.

Alex is educated as a woodcarver and sculptor. Lana has an education in painting and art history. Before opening their own business, Alex worked in New York as a furniture maker, model maker and woodcarver. At the same time Lana worked as a designer in stained-glass and sand blasting workshops. After having opened their own art and antiques restoration studio in Florida, they have had to acquire several more professions. Alex graduated a school for wood and furniture finish and refinishing as well as a school for upholstery and restoration of leather upholstery. In addition he took private lessons from old masters in wrought iron, bronze casting, jewellery and hand-engraving. Lana graduated a school for painting restoration, and took lessons from an old gilding master and studied faux finishes with another master.

During the past 30 years the couple has worked with museums in Denmark, United Kingdom, Canada and the USA. The couple is also frequently in demand providing restoration services to world class auction houses Sotheby’s, Christie’s, Bonhams, and Dorotheum.

Several of their long-term loyal clients from the USA have visited New Zealand in order to bring them their most precious objects for restoration.
